Gypsy Point Lodge offers bird watching, fishing, boating and more in the surrounding Croajingalong National Park, within minutes of the facilities of Mallacoota Inlet.

Activities

Boating is safe and enjoyable on the Mallacoota Inlet. Motor boats and canoes can be hired from Gipsy Point Lodge.  There are many well maintained picnic areas that are only accessible by boat, and all have jetties, picnic tables, BBQ and toilet facilities.

Boat Cruises operate from Gipsy Point Main Jetty, three days per week, ( Gypsy Princess Wilderness River Cruise 0418 279 997) and also Loch Ard from the Mallacoota Public Jetty and Porky Bess 0408 408 094 for fishing Charter from Karbethong Jetty.

Walking is a popular in this region of the Croajingolong National Park. Moderate walks include Genoa Peak, The Narrows, Shipwreck Creek Heathland, as well as many deserted beaches, and the network of walks around Mallacoota.  A shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists follows the Bottom Lake from Karbethong Jetty to Mallacoota and is a popular, esp. the boardwalk sections with purpose built fishing platforms.

Relaxing, reading a book in our sun-filled lounge or deck overlooking the Genoa River, and in Winter in a cosy chair in front of the open fire.

Bird Watching around Gipsy Point is very popular, having a mix of woodlands, open forest and the extensive waterways.

18 Hole Golf Course complete with kangaroos, and a Bowling Club operate in Mallacoota.  Both welcome visitors from out of town.

Gabo Island, 7km along the coast from Mallacoota is a fascinating Island, full of history and with the magnificent Lighthouse quarried from the local pink granite. Access is by boat or plane Charter.

Fishing, the Mallacoota Inlet is renowned for its Black Bream and Dusky Flathead, as well as Tailor, Luderick, Perch, Garfish and Mulloway.

4x4 Driving The surrounding forest areas offer a range of challenging country, including steep grades and river crossings.

Wildlife, including Gliders, Bats, Goannas, Water dragons, Kangaroos and Wallabies, and the elusive Platypus

During WW2 Mallacoota played a major part of the Australia’s defence. A Communication Bunker was built adjacent to the Airstrip, which has been recently restored and now houses an extensive collection Mallacoota’s WW2 and other history. Open Tuesday mornings 9.30 to 11.30am

Mallacoota is 20km (15 minutes) by car from Gipsy Point.
